Bradford based ‘Curry Circle’ by Muslim Women’s Council gets £10000 grant from lottery scheme

The Curry Circle, a project by Bradford based charity Muslim Women’s Council was rewarded a grant of £10,000 by The National Lottery Community Fund’s

The grant was a part of rewards, that were given away as the winners of ‘The People’s Project’, by the National Lottery Community Fund.

The fund awards local community projects with grants of up to £60,000 with runners up getting £10,000.

Hard-working community groups across the UK have won a share of over £4 million in National Lottery funding in this year’s The People’s Projects. After going head-to-head in a public vote, 57 projects nationwide won people over with their plans to make a life-changing difference in their local communities

Curry Circle, being one of those who received the grant, was established in December 2013 and it aims to feed homeless or destitute individuals every week, currently feeding on average 100 people every week. Ever since the project started it has given out 70,000 hot meals to the needy.

Blondel Cluff CBE, Chair of The National Lottery Community Fund, said: “The People’s Projects highlights the incredible work of inspiring community groups across the UK. We are proud to have given local people throughout the country a say in where over £4 million of vital National Lottery funding will go. We congratulate this year’s winners and look forward to seeing them make a life-changing difference in their communities.”

Hot meals by the Curry Circle is available every Thursday from 4pm to 5:30pm at Manningham Library, Carlisle Road, Bradford, BD8 8BB

This year the Curry Circle will mark a decade since inception.
