Group of women brave Mount Snowdon to raise funds for Gaza

A group of women determined women took on the challenging heights of Mount Snowdon in Wales on the 14 September to raise vital funds for mothers and children in Gaza, who have been severely affected by the ongoing conflict.

The team, calling themselves Girls for Gaza, represent a diverse group of everyday heroes from teachers to housewives all united by a common goal: to help those suffering unimaginable hardship.

“It’s no secret there’s a humanitarian crisis unfolding,” said a spokesperson for the group. “Thousands of children are dying of malnutrition and starvation. We feel helpless watching these atrocities through a screen here in the UK this is our way of doing something, however small, to send hope and aid to those in desperate need.”

Funds raised from the climb will go directly to Donate Directly, a charity founded by Pakistani investigative journalist Iqrar Ul Hassan, dedicated to providing transparent, targeted aid to those most in need. The charity ensures that donations reach beneficiaries quickly and effectively, with every penny accounted for.

This initiative will support urgent relief for mothers and children in Gaza, providing essential food parcels, medical support, and hygiene kits.

The Climb

Mount Snowdon, standing at 1,085 metres, is Wales’ highest peak and one of the UK’s most popular but challenging climbs. The women have been training for the ascent, ready to face unpredictable weather and steep terrain.

“Our climb is symbolic,” added one participant. “Every step we take represents the struggles the people of Gaza face every day. Only theirs is a climb for survival.”

Donations can be made directly via the Girls for Gaza campaign page on the Donate Directly website.
