Popular actor Hamza Ali Abbasi to headline Almarah Foundation UK charity drive in Bradford, Manchester and London

Beloved Pakistani film and television star Hamza Ali Abbasi will join the Almarah Foundation this September as the charity brings its mission to the United Kingdom with a programme of fundraising events and community engagements across Bradford, Manchester and London.

Mrs Sophiya Warraich, Chairperson of Almarah Foundation

The renowned actor, who commands a loyal following both in Pakistan and among the British-Pakistani diaspora, is serving as Brand Ambassador for Almarah Foundation. His participation is expected to be the major draw for the charity’s high-profile UK dinners, aimed at raising awareness and vital funds for underprivileged children in Pakistan.

The UK programme will culminate in two major fundraising evenings: Manchester on Friday 12 September and London on Sunday 14 September. Both events promise to be powerful occasions, combining live performances by singer NS Chuhan, heartfelt presentations about the Foundation’s life-changing work, and an opportunity for the diaspora community to stand in solidarity with vulnerable children.

The UK tour begins in Bradford, where the Foundation will host a number of engagements before the headline events. These include:

  • A private showcase dinner at MyLahore Restaurant on Great Horton Road with key community leaders.
  • A gathering at Wunder Crumble on Ingleby Street, hosted by long-standing supporters of the charity.
  • A visit to Janan Luxury Wear, one of the city’s leading South Asian fashion retailers.
  • Meetings with Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, exploring potential collaborations with Bradford Hospitals Charity.
  • Including a Ladies brunch at the Asian Standard HQ

The Bradford leg reflects the city’s long-standing role as a hub for philanthropy and diaspora engagement, setting the tone for the wider UK campaign.

The initiative is being spearheaded by Mrs Sophiya Warraich, Chairperson of Almarah Foundation, accompanied by her husband DIG Mehboob Aslam Lilla, a senior police official in Pakistan whose steadfast support has been crucial to the charity’s expansion.

“From five children to hundreds, our journey is proof that collective efforts can transform lives. These UK events are an invitation for the diaspora to join hands in shaping the future of children who need us most,” said Mrs Warraich.

Hamza Ali Abbasi, reflecting on his role as ambassador, added:
“It’s an honour to stand with Almarah Foundation. Together, we can ensure that these children not only dream of a better tomorrow but actually live it. I’m excited to meet the community here in the UK and share in this important mission.”

Almarah Foundation is a registered non-profit organisation working to uplift underprivileged children and families through education, healthcare, shelter, food security, and disaster relief. Its flagship Parent an Orphan Programme currently supports 250 children across 12 homes in Pakistan, providing not only safety and dignity but the tools for a brighter future.

The Foundation also runs the Compassionate Haven for Special Kids, distributes over 1,000 daily meals, and has delivered emergency aid to more than 5,000 families affected by recent floods.
