Seven men were appearing before magistrates in Leeds today, charged with the murder of a man in Dewsbury.
Extensive enquires continue by the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team into the murder on Saturday 12 July of a man, who can now be named as 36-year-old Shahmus Hussain, from Dewsbury.
Mr Hussain was fatally stabbed in Crow Nest Park at about 8:10pm following an incident of disorder.
As part of the fast-moving investigation, the below men have now been charged with murder and detained in custody to appear before Leeds Magistrates’ Court.
They are:
- Saqlain Ali, aged 21, of Pilgrim Drive, Dewsbury.
- Basit Ali, aged 31, of Pilgrim Drive, Dewsbury.
- Sakeb Khan, aged 32, of Pilgrim Drive, Dewsbury.
- Asim Akram, aged 20, of Pilgrim Crescent, Dewsbury.
- Faizaan Akram, aged 18, of Pilgrim Crescent, Dewsbury.
- Zeeshan Khan, aged 18, of Pilgrim Crescent, Dewsbury.
- Asif Azeem, aged 23, of Groves Hall Road, Dewsbury.
A 44-year-old Dewsbury man arrested earlier in the week has now been released under investigation while a 23-year-old Dewsbury man has been released on police bail.
Police continue to appeal for information about the offence, which is being treated as a localised and isolated incident.
