Based in Manningham, BEAP has transformed access to sport for girls aged 8 to 16, particularly those from South Asian and other minority backgrounds. Through free, culturally sensitive sessions in football, cricket and multi-sports, the club provides a safe and inclusive space where participants can build confidence, improve wellbeing and develop a lasting interest in sport.

Asma Khan, a coach at the club, said:

“This award means a great deal to us because we see the impact every week. Many of the girls had never played sport before, and now they are growing in confidence, making friends and enjoying being active. It’s about creating a space where they feel comfortable and included.”

Fellow coach Rukshana Jannath added:

“We are incredibly proud of the girls. Their enthusiasm and commitment is inspiring, and it’s been amazing to see their growth—not just in sport, but in confidence and teamwork. This recognition belongs to them and their families.”

Hiron Miah, chair of BEAP Community Partnership, said the award was a proud moment for the organisation and the wider community.

“Our aim has always been to remove barriers and ensure every young person has access to sport, regardless of background. This recognition for both diversity and community engagement shows we are making a real difference. We thank our volunteers, coaches, parents and partners for their continued support.”

The Bradford Sports Awards celebrate individuals and organisations across the district who are making a positive impact through sport. BEAP’s success reflects its ongoing commitment to equality, inclusion and community development.
