Two cafes can be built in the car park of a Bradford bazaar, planners have decided.
Awaan Bazaar on Leeds Old Road has a range of stalls inside a converted church building, with a large car park to the rear.
A planning application to install two, 14 seat cafes in this rear car park was submitted to Bradford Council by Kaiser Mahmood earlier this Summer.
The application said: “The proposal introduces two small-scale food-service units within the existing car park, providing hot and cold food with an associated seating area.
“The proposal supports local economic activity and small food businesses.”
Although the cafes will take up some car parking space behind the bazaar, the application says 42 spaces will remain.
There had been no objections to the plans, and the Council approved the new businesses this week.
Officers said: “It is felt that the design of the units means that they could function as what might reasonably be described as a cafe. For this reason, it is anticipated that likely impacts on neighbour amenity would be less than might be expected for a takeaway facility.”
One condition of the approval is the cafes can only open between 9am to 11pm on Monday to Saturday and 9am to 6pm on Sundays.
