Eccleshill Library to close for refurbishment ahead of City of Culture 2025

Eccleshill Library will close at the end of October for a refurbishment.

It will close from Monday, 28 October for several weeks.

The refurbishment will include the installation of new facilities such as an accessible toilet and baby changing facilities on the ground floor, new moveable shelving to allow more events and activities to take place onsite and redecoration of the entire library space.

This is in addition to the newly refurbished meeting room up-stairs at the library and the small meeting room inside the main library space on the ground floor.

The refurbishment is funded by the Arts Council England Libraries Improvement Fund and Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) contributions allocated to the Library Service.

Cllr Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Healthy People and Places, said:  “This funding from the Arts Council is allowing us to modernise the library and make it more welcoming to our customers.

“We are expecting that the refurbishment will be completed in time for 2025 and the City of Culture, so the Library can host more and bigger events.”
