Fans and colleagues pay tribute after the passing of popular Sunrise Radio presenter.

Tributes have been pouring in across social media over the sad news of the beloved radio presenter, Bob ‘Bee’ Bajwa.

Best known for his work on the radio channel, ‘Sunrise Radio’ which itself has been described as a national institution for the British Asian Community, the station has made the statement:

“Bob was a ray of sunshine with his infectious Personality. We send our condolences to Bob’s family, friends and fans. Rest in peace”

Bob tragically passed away at the age of just 46, but many of his listeners and fans are already praising his career as a loved and popular radio personality.

Bob joined the station in 1999 and quickly became popular for a blend of music, uplifting content and storytelling, presented with an endearing and energetic style.

This unique blend was a big hit with listeners, and Bob’s career hit a high note when he went on to host the popular breakfast show in 2014, endearing his listeners with his friendly and uplifting presenting skills.

His breakfast shows quickly became known as staples for listeners to start their day with a combination of friendly banter and charm.

Bob was also known for captivating audiences with his passion and knowledge of football, Bollywood cinema, Indian food and music. His favourite films are reportedly included: “Band Baaja Baaraat”, “3 Idiots” and the famous “Sholay”. It was this connection and passion that made his shows both relevant and popular with his listeners.

Beyond his popular and acclaimed radio work, Bob was also active on social media, known for sharing insights and opinions. On Facebook, users have paid tribute, with one commenting:

“Heartfelt condolences to the family. He was such a good radio presenter. Loved his jokes.”

Another Facebook user termed his sad passing as:

“A big loss for listeners.”

Known and loved by listeners for his fun banter and jovial presentation style, he became not only a familiar voice for listeners but also a source of connection for his community and proud heritage.

On his Instagram profile, he talks of visiting his father’s village in Panjab:
“It’s coming here when I was young that connected me to my culture and roots.”

He also goes on to say in further posts:
“It is up to you to make sure your culture continues.”

Bob was also an active figure on the TikTok social media platform, where he helped celebrate important festivals such as Eid, and met famous cultural icons such as ‘Miss Pooja’, the celebrated Indian singer and actress.

Bob was also a keen fundraiser, noted for efforts to aid charities for Afghan refugees, and stating his support on Twitter / X for the plight of the Palestinian people. He has been quoted as saying that he was, ‘Trying to make the world a better place”.

Bob went to school at Langley Grammar. A hardworking student, he went on to study at Queen Mary University of London, before later forging a career in the media.

Although his passing is a tragedy, Bob will nevertheless undoubtedly be remembered not only as a popular radio host and personality but as someone who was a vital and vibrant member of his community, with a sense of pride in his culture, heritage and roots.

Bob will leave a legacy as a media personality with a strong sense of professionalism and dedication to brightening the mornings of his listeners. His ability to connect with his listeners with a funny, warm and friendly voice for people from all walks of life means he will be remembered as a true star of UK radio.
