A long-planned city centre Brazilian restaurant will now be a Japanese-Brazilian mash up that will bring an ‘immersive dining concept’ to Bradford.
It was announced that Estabulo would be opening its first Bradford chain in early 2020, shortly before the Covid 19 Pandemic shut down businesses across the country.
The restaurant would be based in a large unit on Charles Street, and plans showed that with seating planned for over 300 people it would be one of the biggest restaurants in the city centre.
This week it has been announced that while the restaurant is still to be run by Estabulo, it will be part of its SakkuSamba concept.
The company says the new concept, a mix of Japanese and Brazilian, has proved so popular in Manchester that it led to a change in the plans for the Bradford restaurant.
Although no date has yet been set for the restaurant opening, the boss of Broadway says the new business is “imminent.”
The restaurant would have a ground floor entrance between Zizzi and Tiffin Grande, but the bulk of the restaurant would be based on the first floor, over those businesses.
Although Japanese and Brazilian may initially seem an unusual mix of culinary styles, Brazil is home to the largest Japanese population outside of Japan.
Items on the menu of the Manchester restaurant include noodle dishes, sushi and Brazilian grilled meats.
Last year the company was granted an alcohol licence for its Bradford branch.
Ian Ward, General Manager at The Broadway, Bradford, said: “We’re delighted that the unit on Charles Street will be imminently opening.
“SakkuSamba will be a welcome addition to The Broadway; its unique concept of Japanese-Brazillian cuisine wrapped up in an immersive dining concept will be hugely popular with the shoppers and residents of Bradford. SakkuSamba is an exciting new restaurant that joins the wealth of eateries at The Broadway and it further strengthens our commitment to bring new propositions to Bradford.”
Zak Isaak, Director at SakkuSamba, said: “We first announced plans for this site way back in January 2020.
“Since then a lot has changed and we’ve launched a completely new brand in Manchester, SakkuSamba. The success of this new concept is what led us to change our plans here in Bradford.
“As a business, we are constantly evolving to bring fresh ideas and concepts to the table. That’s exactly what we want to do here in Bradford – bring something totally new and exciting to the city.”
