Christmas and the New Year are just around the corner and with that comes great responsibility… to remember when to take the bins out. Councils across London have announced changes to their usual bin collection services as the festive period is an extremely busy time for refuse workers and street cleaners, and collections are postponed on bank holidays.
For Barking and Dagenham residents, the council has announced the following revised dates for bin collections across the borough:
Week commencing Monday, 25 December
- If your normal collection date is on Monday, 25 December your bins will instead be collected on Wednesday, 27 December
- If your normal collection date is on Tuesday, 26 December your bins will instead be collected on Thursday, 28 December
- If your normal collection date is on Wednesday, 27 December your bins will instead be collected on Friday, 29 December
- If your normal collection date is on Thursday, 28 December your bins will instead be collected on Saturday, 30 December
- If your normal collection date is on Friday, 29 December your bins will instead be collected on Tuesday, 2 January
Week commencing Monday, 1 January
- If your normal collection date is on Monday, 1 January your bins will instead be collected on Wednesday, 3 January
- If your normal collection date is on Tuesday, 2 January your bins will instead be collected on Thursday, 4 January
- If your normal collection date is on Wednesday, 3 January your bins will instead be collected on Friday, 5 January
- If your normal collection date is on Thursday, 4 January your bins will instead be collected on Saturday, 6 January
- If your normal collection date is on Friday, 5 January your bins will instead be collected on Monday, 8 January
Week commencing Monday, 8 January
- If your normal collection date is on Monday, 8 January your bins will be collected on Tuesday, 9 January
- If your normal collection date is on Tuesday, 9 January your bins will be collected on Wednesday, 10 January
- If your normal collection date is on Wednesday, 10 January your bins will be collected on Thursday, 11 January
- If your normal collection date is on Thursday, 11 January your bins will be collected on Friday, 12 January
- If your normal bin collection date is on Friday, 12 January your bins will be collected on Saturday, 13 January
Christmas tree recycling
Real Christmas trees will be taken away for recycling by crews over the festive period. Residents should put trees next to bins on their scheduled collection dates, remembering to remove all decorations.
