Renowned Bradford judge and diversity champion awarded Honorary Fellowship by Leeds Trinity University

His Honour Judge Ahmed Nadim, Judge at the Bradford Crown Court and diversity champion, was awarded an Honorary Fellowship by Leeds Trinity University for his services to law and equity.

Judge Nadim is a senior member of the Lincoln House Chambers, a distinguished legal professional, and recognised champion of justice, equity and inclusion. When Judge Nadim began his legal career, he was one of only a few Asian barristers practicing in the UK, and he has shown a strong commitment to inclusivity in the legal field. Judge Nadim’s work and impact align with the University’s mission to nurture integrity, leadership and social responsibility.

Judge Ahmed Nadim said: “To be recognised by a university that invests in social inclusion and diversity is the ultimate compliment and it gives me greater strength and encouragement to get involved in the university’s work. I’m hoping to engage in more mentoring work, inviting students to our court, so they can experience the operation of our justice system first-hand. This will hopefully disabuse them of any notion that the position of being a judge is reserved for a particular class of person.

“I would encourage everyone who aspires to be a barrister or solicitor, or nurses a hope to become a judge, to follow their dream. Don’t allow other people’s fears to define your ambitions.”

Professor Charles Egbu, Vice-Chancellor at Leeds Trinity University, said: “I am delighted that Leeds Trinity continues to expand its Honorary Fellows community and that we are building meaningful relationships with such a range of inspirational individuals. Judge Nadim is an engaged supporter of education, having served as a mentor, speaker, and inspirational figure to Leeds Trinity University’s students and staff. We are privileged to enjoy his support and look forward to developing this relationship further.”

Leeds Trinity University holds an Honorary Fellowship ceremony to recognise the unique relationships it develops with its Honorary Fellow community, which now stands at over 50 members.
