Thirty arrests as part of crackdown on neighbourhood crime across Bradford district

Bradford District Police have been supported by force resources to provide high-visibility and engagement policing across the area.

Op Jetshot has seen a number of pre-planned operations and engagement opportunities with communities carried out across the six local neighbourhood policing areas of the district on Wednesday 16 July.

Warrants in relation to drugs have been carried out in our fight against serious and organised crime.

We have also arrested people for domestic abuse offences highlighting our commitment to protecting women and girls.

There’s also been arrests for people who commit retail crime in our towns and cities across the district.

Op Steerside have been out targeting hotspot areas as part of our ongoing work to target anti-social driving across the area and road safety as part of our commitment to Vision Zero.

Some of our neighbourhood policing teams have been focusing on making town centres safer by tackling issues like shop theft street crime and anti-social behaviour as part of the Safer Streets Summer initiative.

Key results from the day of action included:

    30 people were arrested across Bradford District for a range of offences including assault, theft, domestic abuse, stalking, arson, and burglary.

  • Six of those have already been charged, two have been recalled to prison, and a number of people bailed and released under investigation whilst enquiries into the offences continue.
  • A warrant was executed at a business premises on Station Road, Wyke where a significant cannabis farm was located.
  • Keighley Neighbourhood officers joined partners as part of Keighley Stay Safe to educate students about the dangers of knife crime.
  • Anti-social behaviour patrols were conducted across hotspots in Bradford City Centre, Keighley Town centre and Myrtle Park in Bingley
  • Road traffic operations were conducted across the district.
  • Two court summonses were issued in Keighley Town Centre for Vagrancy.
  • Three Public Space Protection Orders were issued for drinking in a public place in Keighley Town Centre.
  • High visibility reassurance patrols were carried out at Rawson Square, Broadway, Kirkgate and Centenary Square.
  • Engagement with businesses in Keighley offering out crime prevention advice.

Results for the traffic operation at Richard Dunns Sports Centre:

  • 15 vehicles seized for no tax
  • Two vehicles seized for no insurance
  • 40 traffic offence reports issued for a range of offences
  • Two drivers reported to court for traffic offences
  • A vehicle was seized for a Section 59

The day of action saw us working in partnership with several agencies, including Bradford City Council‘s Street Wardens, DVSA, Environmental Health, Safer Travel, the Housing Outreach Team, WYFS, BTP, Yorkshire Water, Northern Power, and the town Mayor of Keighley.

Chief Inspector Paul Wood head of operational policing at Bradford District Police said: “This operation has showcased the proactive work we have going on in the district everyday to tackle crime in our neighbourhoods.

“We hope that by utilising the force’s resources and having high visibility across the district will reassure communities that we are taking their concerns and issues about crime seriously.

“I hope this action shows that we are relentless in our pursuit of criminals and getting the right outcomes for victims of crime.”
