Manningham Housing Association (MHA) has been recognised by judges at this year’s Housing Executive Awards, earning Highly Commended status for its work in digital innovation and community involvement achievements that continue to elevate the Bradford-based organisation’s national reputation.
In their official adjudication, the judging panel said MHA “stood out among other strong finalists” for how it combines technology with a strong sense of social purpose. The BME-led housing association manages more than 1,400 homes for over 6,000 residents across Bradford and Keighley, many of whom are part of long-established South Asian communities.
MHA was a finalist in three categories at the prestigious awards, including Housing Association of the Year. The organisation’s Odette’s Point development in Keighley a £4.3 million scheme built in partnership with Avant Homes, Homes England, and Bradford Council was shortlisted for Best Affordable Housing Development. In addition, Carolina Padovezi de Oliveira, MHA’s Head of Corporate Services, was nominated for the Women in Social Housing Award, recognising her contribution to leadership and inclusion in the sector.
The Housing Executive Awards are widely regarded as the UK’s leading celebration of social housing, highlighting innovative projects and the individuals who help shape them. For MHA, the recognition follows a string of notable successes this year. In May, the organisation won Landlord of the Year at the Northern Housing Awards in Manchester, while Customer Panel member Tausif Mohammed collected the prize for Tenant of the Year.
Chief Executive Lee Bloomfield said the latest accolade reflected the collective effort of MHA’s staff and residents. “For a small community-based organisation, we have developed a reputation for excellence on a national level,” he said. “To be spoken about in such positive terms by the Housing Executive Awards judges is another moment of which everyone at MHA should feel rightly proud.”
Founded in 1986, MHA was established to address unmet housing needs among Bradford’s Black and Asian communities. With a current annual turnover of £8.5 million and a team of 44 staff, it now serves residents of all backgrounds, with around 75 per cent of its homes being large family properties. The association holds the Customer Service Excellence quality mark and is the first housing association in the UK to be officially accredited for its work on equality, diversity and inclusion and the first in the world to achieve the global Standard for Diversity and Inclusion in HR Management.
