A long-vacant former children’s play centre in Bradford will be transformed into a commercial laundry, a move planners say will support local economic growth.
The change of use for Unit 4 at Four Lane Ends Business Park on Cemetery Road was submitted to Bradford Council in October by Salford-based Laundrette Maids Limited. The new business is set to create five jobs.
Planning officers have now given the green light for the “large-scale industrial laundry”, noting that the building sits within the Thornton Road Employment Zone and has stood empty for several years.
The facility will include a traditional self-service laundrette, a staffed reception for drop-off and collection, as well as a home pick-up and delivery service.
In their report, officers described the scheme as “a sustainable form of development that contributes to the economic development in the Bradford District.”
