Colombo Kitchen has been named Sri Lankan Restaurant of the Year at the prestigious Nation’s Curry Awards 2026, cementing its place as one of the UK’s leading ambassadors for Sri Lankan cuisine.
The fourth annual ceremony, organised by Oceanic Awards, took place at the Cedar Court Hotel on Monday 9 February, bringing together restaurateurs and hospitality leaders from across the country.
Selected from a shortlist of eight Sri Lankan restaurants nationwide, Colombo Kitchen, which operates in Worcester Park, Surrey and Putney, was recognised for its culinary excellence, consistency and contribution to Britain’s vibrant South Asian dining landscape.

At the heart of Colombo Kitchen’s success is Executive Chef and Founder Sylvia Perera, whose menus honour the depth and diversity of Sri Lankan cooking. From fragrant curries layered with roasted spices to coconut-rich sambols and heritage rice dishes, the restaurant has built its reputation on authenticity, seasonal sourcing and meticulous technique.
Judges praised the restaurant’s ability to balance bold flavour with neighbourhood warmth, creating spaces where both seasoned diners and newcomers can experience the richness of Sri Lankan food culture.
Speaking after the win, Sylvia said: “We are incredibly honoured that Colombo Kitchen has been named Sri Lankan Restaurant of the Year. This recognition reflects the dedication of our passionate team across both restaurants and the continued support of our community, from loyal local guests to diners discovering Sri Lankan food for the first time. Awards like this inspire us to keep sharing the depth, warmth and vibrancy of Sri Lankan cooking through everything we do.”
The Nation’s Curry Awards spotlight innovation and business achievement across the UK’s curry and quick-service sectors, highlighting operators who continue to raise standards within the industry.
For Colombo Kitchen, the accolade marks a significant milestone in its journey – not only as a restaurant brand, but as a cultural bridge introducing more diners to the stories, spices and traditions of Sri Lanka.
As Britain’s appetite for regional South Asian cuisines continues to grow, Colombo Kitchen’s win sends a clear message: authentic, heritage-led cooking still resonates strongly with communities across the UK.
