‘Bradford is for everyone’: Unity march to celebrate diversity and stand against division

Communities from across Bradford district are being invited to come together this weekend for a family-friendly march and festival celebrating unity, diversity and solidarity.

The ‘Bradford & District Is For Everyone’ Unity March and Festival will take place on Saturday 3 October, beginning at 12 noon in City Park, Bradford.

The event is being supported by a range of community and campaigning organisations and forms part of wider unity events being organised around the country.

Organisers say the initiative has been prompted by concerns among participating groups about racism, hate, division and far-right activity, with the Bradford event intended to offer a positive message of “love, hope and unity”.

Bradford’s long history as a multicultural district will be at the heart of the day, with organisers highlighting generations of communities from different backgrounds who have made the district their home, alongside its history of welcoming people fleeing persecution.

The event will begin with a unity march before continuing with a festival featuring music, stalls and indoor activities later in the afternoon.

Organisers said they hope people from across Bradford’s different communities, backgrounds and generations will take part.

They said: “We hope a lot of people will want to join together for love, hope and unity and against racism, hate and division.”
