Drop-in Covid-19 vaccination centre opening in The Broadway shopping centre this Saturday

A drop in Covid-19 vaccination clinic will open this weekend at The Broadway, Bradford.

It will open on Saturday, 17 July, and anyone over 18 can walk in and get a Covid-19 vaccination.

The drop-in clinic will be near the Market Street entrance to the shopping centre. Up to date opening times can be viewed here.

First and second doses are available of the Pfizer vaccine for those over 18 years old. Second doses will only be offered at least 8 weeks after the first dose.

Cllr Sarah Ferriby.

Cllr Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Healthy People and Places, said: “I would encourage everyone who can to go and get their vaccine and by having more walk-in clinics in key locations we want to make it as convenient for people as possible.”

Nancy O’Neill, NHS co-lead for the vaccination programme across Bradford District and Craven, added: “We’re working together with a range of partners to make it as easy possible for people to get their vaccine.

“We are really pleased to be working with The Broadway Bradford so that we can offer people visiting the centre a convenient option to get the Covid vaccine without the need for an appointment.

“This is part of our wider vaccination programme with walk-in clinics available across Bradford District and Craven. We will also continue to offer bespoke sessions at community venues and our vaccine bus is still calling at locations across our place.

More than seventy percent of adults in Bradford have received their first dose of Covid-19 vaccine.

“It’s really important that people have both doses of their vaccine for the best and longer-lasting protection. Second doses have been brought forward to eight weeks for people over the age of 40 following evidence showing how important the second jab is in protecting people against the Delta variant that is now spreading across the country.”

There were 1,127,465 tests reported on 14 July 2021 in Bradford. This is a 2.3% decrease compared to the previous 7 days. Between 8 July 2021 and 14 July 2021, there have been 6,603,795 tests administered in the area. 494 new people had a confirmed positive test result reported on 15 July 2021.

Between 9 July 2021 and 15 July 2021, 2,584 people had a confirmed positive test result. This shows an increase of 43.2% compared to the previous 7 days.

Adults who have not yet received their first vaccine are encouraged to pop along to the walk-in centre.

71.2% of adults over the age of 18 have received their first Coronavirus vaccine as of 14 July and 55% of people have received their second dose.

Ian Ward, General Manager at The Broadway, said: “The Broadway is committed to helping and providing for the community in all the ways it possibly can. We worked with citywide partners to facilitate The Broadway Food Hub back when the pandemic first hit and we’re pleased to play our role to help with the vaccination rollout in the city.

“The Centre continues to follow Government guidelines and all Covid secure measures that we have been operating under since early 2020 will continue to keep both shoppers and staff safe.”
