Over 3,200 people vaccinated at walk-in clinic in The Broadway

The walk-in clinic in The Broadway has been a success with more clinics in vital areas planned.

As part of the rollout of the NHS vaccination programme, the most recently opened walk-in clinic at The Broadway has already administered over 3,200 COVID vaccinations since it opened on 17 July.

The NHS has been working closely with a range of local partners including the Council’s Covid Response Hub and the voluntary and community sector to offer people convenient walk-in vaccination options without the need for an appointment.

The site at The Broadway is one of a number of sites across Bradford District and Craven offering people a chance to get vaccinated.

Getting everyone who are eligible vaccinated is the most important way of returning to normal.

Getting everyone vaccinated remains the most important way of getting back to normality. It’s really important people have both doses of the vaccine for the best and longer-lasting protection against COVID-19.

Sarah Muckle, Bradford Council’s Director of Public Health, said:  “We want to give people convenient options to get their COVID vaccination. The vaccine offers the best protection against the virus and will help us to avoid increases in infections and the risks of deaths and further restrictions.”

In Bradford, 72.4% of adults have received their first dose of the Coronavirus vaccine, with 59.1% people receiving their second jab. In the last seven days, there has been a 37% decrease in people testing positive for the virus.

Cllr Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Healthy People and Places, said:  “I am pleased that so many people have had their vaccination at The Broadway and I would encourage everyone who can to go and get their vaccine and by having more walk-in clinics in key locations we want to make it as convenient for people as possible.”

More walk-in vaccination clinics in key locations in Bradford are planned.

Nancy O’Neill, NHS co-lead for the vaccination programme across Bradford District and Craven, added: “We are really pleased to see people come to The Broadway to Grab A Jab and help ensure we can protect each other from this devastating virus that has impacted all our lives.

“The walk-in clinic is one of many across our Bradford District and Craven making it really easy to get your vaccine. Our sites are offering first and second doses. The second dose is offered at least 8 weeks after the first unless there is a clinical reason for you to get fully vaccinated sooner such as those who are immunocompromised.

“Getting both doses provides better and longer-lasting protection. Every vaccine gives us hope, please do come along and Grab A Jab so that we can reduce the number of people needing hospital treatment for Covid,  these are now mainly younger people who haven’t been vaccinated.”

If you are 18 or over, don’t delay in getting your vaccine, go and grab your jab. No appointment is needed and you do not need to be registered with a GP. Walk-in clinics are open during the day, evening and over the weekend to encourage everyone to get their vaccine.

All clinics are offering first and second doses, with most offering Pfizer vaccines for younger people under 40 and the Astra Zeneca (AZ) jab for those over 40 and those needing a second AZ dose.

Details of all the clinics across Bradford district and Craven including vaccine information is available here.
