GCSE Results: Celebrations at Oasis Academy Lister Park as six-point rise in Attainment 8 score

Students and staff at Oasis Academy Lister Park are celebrating after the Bradford school recorded an almost six-point rise in its Attainment 8 score.

New figures show the academy’s Attainment 8 score has increased from 30.3 in 2025 to 36.28 this year, marking its strongest performance on the measure since 2023.

Attainment 8 measures pupils’ achievement across eight qualifications, including English and maths, and is one of the key measures used to assess secondary school performance.

The proportion of pupils achieving grade 5 or above has also risen, from 23.6 per cent last year to 29.7 per cent this year.

Meanwhile, 44.3 per cent achieved the academy’s 4+ measure, broadly in line with 44.1 per cent in 2025.

The academy’s Progress 8 figure for 2026 stands at -0.3. No Progress 8 score was calculated in 2025, while the figure stood at -0.58 in 2024.

The latest results also show some variation at the highest grades, with the proportion achieving the academy’s 7+ measure falling from 8.7 per cent last year to 5.7 per cent this year.

Across individual subjects, the academy reported strong performances in English Language and Literature, History and Religious Education, as well as Modern Foreign Languages, including Urdu and French.

Vocational and creative subjects also performed strongly, according to the school, including Construction and Performing Arts, alongside Enterprise, IT and Music BTEC qualifications.

Students also achieved top Distinction* grades in Child Development, Sport and Health.

Principal Jules Millar said: “We are incredibly proud of these impressive results. They are a testament to the hard work of our students and staff.

“These achievements ensure our students are fully prepared and confident as they move on to their post-16 destinations.”

The academy described its overall results as being broadly in line with its 2024 performance, with improvements across some measures.

For students receiving their results, attention will now turn to their next steps, with the departing cohort moving on to sixth forms, colleges, apprenticeships and other post-16 education and training.
