The Apprentice is back on screens tomorrow for the first time since 2019 and features an entrepreneur from Bradford.
The hit BBC show is back for its sixteenth series with sixteen business owners competing for Lord Sugar’s life-changing £250,000 investment.
One of the competitors this year is a 41-year-old successful businesswoman and mum-of-five from Bradford, Shama Amin.
A former banker, Ms Amin moved to Bradford twenty years ago and gave up her high-flying job in banking to look after her young children.
In 2014, she opened The Little Academy Day Nursery located on Manchester Road.
In 2018, the nursery was rated ‘good’ by OFSTED and Shama hopes to build on the success of this nursery and prove that she has the “skillset that is required to be one of the best, successful businesswomen in the early years sector.”
In 2012, Ms Amin was a finalist for the Inspirational Women Foundation’s Mum of the Year award, founded by RF Media & Publishing’s managing director, Fatima Patel, and was also featured as one of BBC Radio Leeds finalists to become the ‘Voice of Bradford’ back in 2017.
Ms Amin said: “Being a lady of colour, wearing a headscarf as well, and the challenges that we face on a daily basis, I just want to be a living example for the Asian women and South Asian women out there.”
The Apprentice airs on BBC One and iPlayer at 9pm on Thursday, 6 January.
