Muslim Women’s charity reaches 9 year milestone delivering more than 68,000 hot meals to homeless

Bradford based Muslim Women’s Council, has recently celebrated nine years of the Curry Circle, a food project which provides hot meals for the homeless.

The Curry Circle was launched by the Muslim Women’s Council in December 2013, providing hot two-course meals for people who are homeless or struggling to feed themselves. The Muslim Women Council have declared that more than 68,000 hot meals have been delivered since establishing the Curry Circle, which has been supported by award winning caterers MyLahore.

Due to the unprecedented effects of COVID-19, since March 2020 the sessions have been changed to a hot meal takeout service from the Manningham Library, from 4pm to 5:30pm on Thursdays.

During the charity’s ninth anniversary Christmas session on Thursday 22 December,  volunteers distributed over 160 takeout meals and Christmas treats to service users, with donations from Asda Foundation and Booker Cash & Carry.

Bana Gora, Chief Executive Officer of the MWC, said: “In these challenging times, we are thankful that we are able to support those in need. We are grateful to all our volunteers and supporters, especially our catering partner MyLahore and our donors, for helping us distribute food and gifts at such a special time of year.”
