The Friends of Al-Aqsa (FOA) is set to host the “Voices of Gaza” exhibition, offering attendees a powerful glimpse into the lives and stories of Palestinians in Gaza. The event will take place on Sunday 1 December at the Al Hikmah Centre, located at 28 Track Road, Batley, WF17 7AA.
The exhibition will feature the We Are Not Numbers display, highlighting personal stories from Gaza, along with poetry from Gaza that captures emotions and perspectives through art. It will also include a tribute to resilience with the Honouring the Martyrs exhibition and personal insights into the lives behind the statistics through heartfelt stories and poems penned by Palestinians.
“This is not just about numbers anymore,” organisers of the event explained. “Everyday we wake up and see numbers, of how many people have been killed. This exhibition is to show that each of them are individual stories.
“We aim to highlight the humanity behind the stats and remind ourselves that it’s not mere numbers we are talking off but actual lives that have been impacted. The event will be highlighting real life stories of individuals in Gaza and how the genocide has affected them.”
The event will cater to separate timings for males and females, with females invited from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM and males from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM. Complimentary coffee and refreshments will be available for all attendees. Entry is free and no prior registration is required.
This exhibition is a unique opportunity to engage with the lived experiences of Palestinians, fostering understanding and solidarity. For further details, contact FOA Dewsbury & Batley at 07438 870582.
