STEM magic sparks curiosity in Dewsbury’s young wizards

Dewsbury’s young scientists and budding wizards were captivated by the latest STEM Wizardry Event, where more than 60 children took part in spellbinding experiments, played Quidditch, and tackled cognitive challenges – all with a magical twist.
Held at The Arcade pop-up space in Dewsbury town centre, the event blended science with fun, sparking curiosity and making learning an exciting adventure. From mixing bubbling potions in thrilling experiments to soaring through Quidditch games, the children were fully immersed in the magic of STEM.

STEM subjects, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics are crucial in today’s rapidly evolving world, with robotics, AI, and technological advancements shaping everyday life. Events like this inspire the next generation of innovators, engineers, and scientists by making learning both accessible and engaging.

With overwhelming demand, the next event, scheduled for this month and themed around wellness and the human body, has already sold out, reinforcing the need for more interactive STEM opportunities in the area.

Event organiser Riyaz Gajra praised the enthusiasm of both participants and volunteers, whose dedication helped bring the magic to life. “It was incredible to see so many children completely immersed in the activities, from experimenting with potions to whizzing around in Quidditch. These events ignite a love for STEM subjects in a way that’s fun and memorable. A huge thank you to our volunteers, whose passion and energy made this possible.”

Parents and guardians were equally enthusiastic, highlighting the event’s impact on their children. “What an amazing magical event! My Aayesha loved it, she couldn’t stop talking about the science experiment with the exploding lemon! Thank you, we can’t wait for the next one!” said one parent, Hazra.

Building on this success, the February session will introduce children to the fascinating systems of the human body through hands-on experiments, interactive challenges, and exciting games designed to make STEM learning fun and engaging. Although the session is fully booked, organisers have set aside a limited number of spaces for schools and community groups. Those interested in securing these tickets are encouraged to get in touch.

Families are urged to stay tuned for future events as plans are already underway to expand opportunities for even more children to participate.
