BEAP Community Partnership, in collaboration with Job Centre Plus (DWP), has launched a transformative initiative aimed at empowering job seekers in Bradford. This pioneering program offers personalised employment support, skills development, and a unique sports-based approach to fostering confidence, resilience, and career growth.
Recognising the challenges faced by job seekers, particularly in a city where unemployment rates have risen to 5.0% (as of December 2023) and youth unemployment remains among the highest in the country, the BEAP Youth Hub (DWP) is providing tailored services to help individuals secure meaningful employment.
The initiative goes beyond traditional job search assistance, offering:
Career guidance and skills development tailored to individual aspirations.
CV and application support to enhance employability.
Interview preparation to boost confidence and presentation skills.
Dedicated Work Coaches providing one-on-one personalised support.
With 13% of working-age people in Bradford lacking qualifications and the city ranking as the 13th most deprived local authority in England, BEAP Community Partnership is committed to bridging the skills gap and improving long-term job prospects.
A unique aspect of the program is its integration of sports and social activities to complement employment services. Through group sports and physical activities, participants can:
Build teamwork, communication, and leadership skills.
Boost confidence, resilience, and mental well-being.
Develop professional connections in a supportive environment.
Improve physical fitness and reduce stress for a healthier mindset.
“Sports are a powerful way to build transferable skills that are highly valued by employers while boosting confidence and creating connections,” said Lukman, Manager of BEAP Community Partnership. “Our holistic approach ensures that job seekers are not just prepared for the workforce but are empowered to thrive in their careers.”
Echoing this sentiment, Ismail Miah, Job Centre Plus Partnership Manager, added: “Through our partnership with BEAP Community Partnership, we are proud to support job seekers in building confidence, resilience, and skills that employers value. The integration of sports and personalised employment services creates a unique and empowering pathway for individuals to succeed in their career journeys.”
