Plan for EV charging bays in city centre temple car park is approved

Plans to install EV charging bays in the car park of a city centre temple have been approved by Bradford Council.

This Summer an application for four chargers on a car park in Peckover Street in Little Germany was submitted to Bradford Council by Swarco Smart Charging Ltd.

The car park is associated with the neighbouring Gurdwara Amrit Parchar Dharmik Diwan.

The application has now been approved, with planning officers saying: “Provision of EV charging infrastructure supports the aims and objectives of the Bradford Clean Air Plan and will help to de-carbonise transport emissions in the city (subject to electricity being provided from a green energy tariff).

“Whilst we support this application in principle the applicant must take care to ensure the local electricity infrastructure is capable of supporting four rapid chargers as they are likely to have significant power supply needs.

“The applicant is strongly advised to speak with the local electricity infrastructure provider to ensure the power needs can be supported prior to commencing any ground works on the site.”
