A new stage in the grounds of a community centre could host concerts and other events, and help “ease the problem of isolation.”
A planning application to install an outside stage at the New Keith Thompson Centre in the Braithwaite area of Keighley has been submitted to Bradford Council.
Based on Coronation Mount, the new look community centre re-opened earlier this year after a rebuild project.
The charity holds events for local residents with the aim of bringing the community together.

The planning application says: “The Keith Thompson Centre is now up and running and is fast becoming the heart of the community again, however the size of the cabins we are using are limited to what activities, shows we can provide.
“A solution to this problem and for the community to get the best use from the centre would be to have a stage built in the large grounds.
“Our plan is to hold events such as ‘Braithwaite’s got Talent’ competition have local dance groups etc performing, providing the opportunity for some children to see performing arts which they haven’t yet experienced and encourage them to perhaps join groups and be involved, developing their own passions for the arts.
“Another example of uniting the residents within the neighbourhood is to provide cinema days and show ‘Big Game’ matches of all descriptions to encourage the community to socialise easing the problem of isolation.”
The application adds: “We do not intend to hold festivals blaring noise out at unreasonable hours of the night upsetting neighbours of the centre, our intentions are to make the Community Centre a place for everyone to enjoy, become a part of the Community and appreciate new experiences.”
A decision on the application is expected next month.
