Asian Achievers Awards to honour Ravi Sharma with a Special Award for Contribution to Broadcasting

The Asian Achievers Awards will this year honour one of Britain’s favourite radio broadcasters, Ravi Sharma, with a Special Award for Contribution to Broadcasting.

The Awards are now in their 23rd year and are the UK’s most prominent and longstanding celebration of British Asian achievement across multiple fields. This ceremony will take place on Friday 19 September 2025 at the prestigious London Hilton on Park Lane. Nearly 600 guests include celebrities, business leaders and global stars. Over the last few editions, the net worth of the room has consistently been over £25 billion.

Ravi Sharma from LycaRadio for is a veteran in the radio broadcasting industry. This award recognises his 50 years in the broadcast industry, becoming a favourite of audiences both young and old. He developed a unique ability to engage with a mix of songs, thought of the day, phone-ins and news updates. Ravi grew up in Rohtak in Haryana, India, and has done hard labour including cement mixing early on in his life. He then become a rickshaw driver, before moving to the UK. Now he’s one of the most loved South Asian voices on the airwaves.

Speaking about the accolade, Pratik Dattani, Managing Director of EPG, says: “Our Awards are about recognising the pioneers in South Asian society. Ravi Sharma is undoubtedly one of those people, who almost every South Asian migrant to the UK in the last several decades will have heard. Ravi Sharma said of the award “I am deeply humbled to be recognised for my work in the radio industry over the past 50 years. Radio has been my passion and my purpose, and I am truly grateful to all the stations I’ve had the privilege of working with throughout this incredible journey. A special thank you goes to my current family at Lyca Radio Network, whose support and belief continue to inspire me every day. I would also like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the panel at the Asian Achievers Awards for bestowing this honour upon me. This award is not just mine but belongs to everyone who has shared this journey with me.”

The evening will be hosted by actor Nitin Ganatra OBE and Sky News presenter Anila Dhami, with presenter and choreographer Nileeka Bose hosting the red carpet. Performers include Indian-Canadian singer Raghav, stand-up comedian Eshaan Akbar, and circus performer Klodi Dabkiewicz.

Raghav is one of the most recognisable global Indian singers and sold over 1.4 million copies of his debut album ‘Storyteller’ which led to a MOBO Award, two UK Asian Music Awards, one Urban Music Award and four UK national top 10 singles.

Thomas Forrester from BBC’s Bargain Hunt and Antiques Road Trip will be hosting the charity auction for Parkinson’s UK.
