Asian Standard has launched its first Community Champions 2021 List to recognise selfless individuals who have gone above and beyond during the unprecedented times over the past two years.
March will mark the two years since Britain went into lockdown following the Covid-19 crisis, meaning that it is the perfect opportunity to acknowledge the exceptional community champions and unsung heroes who have provided help, support, and strength during what was an extremely tumultuous time.
The campaign aims to recognise ten people from each of Asian Standard’s four title’s – Bradford, Leeds, Kirklees, and the North East.
The Community Champion 2021 list is an opportunity for us at Asian Standard to say thank you to people who have done something special for the communities we serve and honour those individuals who have gone above and beyond to support residents throughout the four regions.
The Community Champion could be someone who gives their time to assist others to improve their wellbeing or that of their local area, striving to make a difference in a dedicated and selfless way.
Or perhaps it could be someone supporting a neighbour in one way or another, a fundraiser for a local cause, or someone who has been kind in such a way that has changed a life. Our champion can be of any age.
To find our champions we need your help. Using the form below, nominate who you think is an extraordinary individual and deserves to be crowned in our top 10 Community Champions of 2021.
Fatima Patel, managing director and editor at Asian Standard, said: “I am delighted to announce our search for Community Champions 2021.
“After a tumultuous two years and the continued success of our Most Influential South Asians list, it only makes sense to recognise those who have gone above and beyond during the pandemic, supporting the local community across Bradford, Leeds, Kirklees, and the North East.
“We want to use our platform to profile and spotlight those selfless humanitarians and we know we can count on our amazing readers to help us find our champions.”
If you know of a person or organisation that has made a difference please nominate them to receive well-deserved recognition.
Deadlines for nominations close at midnight on 8 March 2022 and the winners will be announced in due course.
Each winner will receive a prize for their hard work and contribution and will be featured in the Asian Standard.
To nominate simply fill out the form listed, here.
Good luck to all nominees and thank you for your contribution to the community.
