Shoppers were left “disgusted” after bra pads were spotted “flying” across Morrisons carpark in Heckmondwike.
The mess was flagged on social media on Tuesday 1 Sept, with photos of clothes in bin bags left dumped outside donation points in the Morrisons carpark posted to a private group.
Following a visit from the Local Democracy Service (LDRS), it appeared that bin bags had been removed, though piles of clothes still surrounded the bins, leaving bra inserts and other clothing items to “blow across the street”.
Speaking to the LDRS, one shopper who did not want to be named, claimed the sight was “disgusting”. She said: “It’s horrid, there are people driving over bra pads. It’s also a waste… if it gets wet it can’t be used.”
Another shopper claimed that the bins were “empty”, after she was witnessed tipping a box of clothes into one of the donation points.
The woman – who also did not wish to be named said: “I have just put two boxes in there. It’s a shame… I don’t understand why it is all there, but it’s going to blow all over.”
Although the donation points sit on private land, spokespeople for Kirklees Council warned that flytipping should be “reported to the council”.
A spokesperson from Morrisons said: “We are taking this matter very seriously, and we are working with the relevant partners to clean up the site as a priority. We are working to increase the frequency of collections to prevent this from happening in the future”.
