Bradford College student secures £150,000 Microsoft funding for groundbreaking AI business

A Bradford College student is set to revolutionise the call centre industry after securing £150,000 in funding from Microsoft for his AI-powered start-up, Kallabot.

Abdul Rahman Majid’s journey began when he struggled to communicate with utility companies after moving to Bradford. Frustrated with long wait times and inefficient customer service, he developed Kallabot—an AI-driven call centre solution designed to handle customer support, sales calls, and appointment scheduling using intelligent virtual agents. Unlike traditional call centres that rely on large teams of human agents, Kallabot’s AI-powered system can process hundreds of calls simultaneously in over 30 languages. The innovative platform offers a cost-effective alternative for businesses that typically outsource customer service.

Explaining his inspiration, Abdul said: “I noticed that many companies were spending huge sums outsourcing call centre services. When I experienced long hold times and delays myself, I realised there had to be a better, more affordable solution. That’s what led me to create Kallabot.”

With his business idea fully formed, Abdul applied for Microsoft’s Start-Up Funding, a programme designed to support promising innovations in the tech sector. After a rigorous selection process, Kallabot was awarded £150,000 in digital infrastructure funding, which will be used to enhance servers, website domains, and AI development.

Looking ahead, Abdul is determined to make his mark. “The call centre industry is a huge pie, and I just want to take a small piece of it to build something big. After Bradford College, I plan to go to university, build new connections, and watch Kallabot grow into something extraordinary.”

Abdul’s entrepreneurial success is being celebrated at Bradford College, with his teacher, Daniaal Rauf, praising his dedication to both business and academics. “It’s inspiring to see a student excel in studies while also launching a business. Abdul’s passion, time management, and perseverance are setting a powerful example for his peers. He’s proving that with the right mindset, students can balance education and entrepreneurship successfully.”

As Abdul prepares to take Kallabot to the next level, his journey is an inspiring testament to how innovation, determination, and education can transform an idea into a game-changing business.
