A Bradford-based family-run restaurant has put the city’s diverse culinary scene on the national map after winning Best Lebanese Restaurant in Britain at the 13th British Kebab Awards.
Mezza Restaurant, which opened its doors in August 2020, has quickly gained a reputation for serving authentic Lebanese and Levantine cuisine. Set in a lovingly restored Grade II-listed building, the restaurant was transformed from a derelict site into a thriving dining destination by a family deeply passionate about food and culture.
Co-owner Nabil Gorji expressed his pride in receiving the award, saying: “We are incredibly honoured to be recognised at such a prestigious level, especially at a time when Bradford is
preparing for its moment in the spotlight as the City of Culture 2025. This achievement is a testament to the dedication of our team and the unwavering support of our customers.”
While Bradford is best known for its rich South Asian culinary heritage, Mezza stands out by bringing the flavours of Lebanon to the city’s vibrant food landscape. The restaurant’s success highlights the growing appetite for diverse, high-quality dining experiences in the region.
With their sights set on the future, the team behind Mezza has ambitious plans. Rida Gorji, co-owner of the restaurant, revealed: “We’re excited to expand the Mezza brand nationally and internationally, sharing the warmth and flavours of Lebanon with even more people.”
In the meantime, the restaurant is gearing up for its next big event—a Ramadan Iftar buffet at the Mirage Banqueting Suite, welcoming up to 300 guests for a special evening of food and community.
As Bradford continues to evolve as a cultural and culinary destination, Mezza Restaurant’s national recognition proves that the city’s food scene is as diverse as it is delicious.
