A host of household names are set to bring Jane Austen’s beloved Pride & Prejudice to life in a one-off charity performance in London, raising urgent funds for Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP).
The special table read, hosted by comedian Nish Kumar and directed by We Are Lady Parts creator Nida Manzoor, will take place at East London’s art deco venue Troxy on Sunday, 12 October.
Among the stellar line-up are Ambika Mod (This Is Going to Hurt), Daisy Ridley (Star Wars), Jameela Jamil (The Good Place), Jenna Coleman, Morfydd Clark, Susan Wokoma, Mawaan Rizwan, Priya Kansara, Amar Chadha-Patel, Jeff Mirza, Shazia Mirza, Asim Chaudhry, Himesh Patel, Bilal Hasna, Aiysha Hart and Meera Syal.
The evening promises an imaginative twist on Austen’s enduring tale of love, pride and social status, with audiences invited to enjoy “withering wit, top-notch repressed flirting, and hard-won happy endings”.
The fundraiser is being organised by Cinema for Gaza, a volunteer-led initiative by film professionals that has already raised more than £269,000 for MAP since launching with an auction in April 2024. Every penny from the performance will go directly to the charity’s lifesaving work, including the operation of its polyclinic in Gaza, which continues to provide essential healthcare despite the ongoing bombardment and siege.
MAP’s clinic currently supports hundreds of patients each day, offering psychosocial support, physiotherapy and medication for chronic illnesses.
Cinema for Gaza said the event is also a timely celebration of the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen’s birth, bringing a contemporary, star-powered spin to a much-loved classic.
Tickets for the fundraiser are available now via www.troxy.co.uk.
