Council-owned home sold at auction

A council-owned property that went to auction this week has sold for £80,000.

84 Broadstone Way went under the hammer at an online property auction by Pugh, with a guide price of £75,000. It ended up selling slightly above that guide price.

The listing described the house, which has been empty for years, as a “renovation project” that requires “complete refurbishment”.

In recent years, Bradford Council has taken possession of vacant properties with the view to re-selling them and bring long empty housing stock back into use.

A condition of this particular sale is that the buyer must “renovate the property to a habitable condition for occupation as a dwelling house within a period of six months.

“In the event of default, the Council will have the option to buy back the property.”

Details of the buyer have not been disclosed.

Another Council owned property initially listed for the auction – a plot of land at Florence Street, off Leeds Road, was withdrawn from sale shortly before the auction began.
