Curry and Charity: Bradford Courts Chaplaincy Service to host a gastronomical affair for a noble cause

The Bradford Courts Chaplaincy Service (BCCS) is set to host its highly anticipated annual charity dinner at the prestigious Aagrah restaurant on Thursday, 21 September. This elegant evening promises to be a memorable occasion, with all proceeds going towards charitable causes.

Honoured guests for the event include HM Lord Lieutenant for West Yorkshire, Ed Anderson CBE, and HHJ Heather Anderson, both of whom are expected to grace the occasion with their presence.

The evening’s agenda is packed with delightful activities, commencing with a musical welcome by the Superb String Trio, Mark Ostyn & Sons. Guests will then be treated to a delectable three-course buffet-style meal, served at their tables. For those with special dietary needs, an alternative to curry can be arranged, provided advance notice is given during the booking process.

The programme includes a short address by HM Lord Lieutenant, shedding light on the importance of community engagement and charity work. Members of the BCCS Team and Mir Solicitors will also offer a brief presentation, sharing insights into their contributions to the community.

Excitement will run high as the evening features a raffle, offering attendees the opportunity to win exciting prizes. To wrap up the night on a musical note, singer-songwriter Sarah Widdup will serenade the audience, accompanying herself on the guitar, ensuring a perfect ending to a memorable evening.

Speaking on the dinner, Dr Manoj Joshi, Chairman, BCCS said: “The annual dinner used to be held at Cleckheaton Golf Club, which was out of town, now I have brought it to Bradford.

“We are one of a unique charity in UK, it started in Bradford nearly 15 years ago. We used to hold this event in Cleckheaton Golf course, we brought it in town to make it more inclusive, so more people can come in. Everybody likes to have Asian food. There are also a lot of Asian people who are court users, be it solicitors, barristers, plaintiffs and defendants, we support them.

“This event is to make people aware about this incredible charity that does all the good work. 98% of the work is done by volunteers of all age groups. The annual dinner is to raise funds for our works to continue.”

The annual dinner has been held for five years to raise funds for the charity.

Dr Joshi added, “People should join in and participate in the dinner because we need funds. We deal with people who are court users, whether they are plaintiffs, defendants, judges, barristers, staff. They all have needs and we support them. It’s a very traumatic experience for people to go to court.”

To secure a place at this charitable event, attendees are encouraged to make BACs payments to the Bradford Court Chaplaincy, specifying their Surname and initial along with “Dinner” in the reference.

The cost for the tickets is ÂŁ30 per person. The payment details are as follows:

  • Sort code: 08 92 99
  • Account: 65296079

This annual dinner not only promises a delightful culinary experience but also aims to make a meaningful impact on charitable causes supported by the BCCS
