Plans to extend a Bradford dental practice would “result in severe harm to highway safety”.
A planning application to expand the dental surgery at 254 Allerton Road into a neighbouring house has been refused by Bradford Council.
The application would create two new surgery rooms and office space through the change of use of a house on James Street.
The plans had attracted seven objections, with concerns relating to the extra traffic the expansion would bring to an area that already has little parking.
Others referred to concerns about the visitors to the surgery causing anti-social behaviour.
Highways officers shared the traffic concerns, saying: “The proposed new use would result in a significant intensification of the scale of the existing dental practice and would provide no parking to accommodate the additional demand.
“Given the significantly restrictive existing highways layout, the proposal would result in the significant detriment of the safe and free flow of traffic onto the Allerton Road.”
