Eid gifts bring smiles to children in hospital

Bradford Hospitals’ Charity welcomed Eid gifts for young patients from kind-hearted members of the community.

More than £1,000 worth of gifts were donated by individuals and charities working in partnership with Bradford Hospitals’ Charity – the official NHS charity of Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Thanks to the generosity of individuals and local businesses, Bradford Hospitals’ Charity is able to support patients by providing gifts during Christmas, Easter and Eid celebrations

In the run up to Eid, most gifts were donated from members of the public via the Bradford Hospitals’ Charity Amazon Wish Lists. The Wish Lists include items which relax and distract patients and make their time in hospital more comfortable.

The Neonatal Unit Wish List includes toys and books for siblings visiting the unit, while the Children & Young People’s Unit Wish List includes toys, games and crafts to help calm youngsters while they are in hospital. Dementia Services have a range of items on their Wish List which bring comfort to patients while they are away from home, and the Maternity Unit has a list of items to support mums and dads.

The Grains of Hope Foundation – a new charity supporting the BD3 area of Bradford – gave £700 worth of gifts from the Bradford Hospitals’ Charity Amazon Wish Lists.

Shummel Uddin from the Grains of Hope Foundation said they were delighted to work with Bradford Hospitals’ Charity and hoped to form a lasting partnership.

“Eid is a celebration when children are usually spoiled with gifts and money, so we wanted to mark this occasion by giving as many gifts as we can to children in hospital.”

Shummel explained that the charity supported people from all faiths and backgrounds who were in need in Bradford, as well as helping overseas aid projects.

Bradford Hospitals’ Charity Director Sharon Milner said: “It’s a pleasure to collaborate with small charities such as the Grains of Hope Foundation, who work across all our communities and faiths in the district, and to bring some happiness to our children in hospital. We look forward to working with them again in the future.”
