A father of four says he feels ‘hopeless’ after scaffolding has been left up on his family home for three months – with no work being done.
Slough Borough Council tenant Baha Uddin says scaffolding was put up around his house at 5 The Normans in March this year after he reported problems with the roof.
But he claims no repair work has taken place since then – and now he can’t open windows or let his children play outside in the summer. Mr Uddin told the LDRS: “It’s me, my wife and four children living here.
“I reported problems because this house is cold and mouldy. Finally they found something is wrong with the roof, then the people who were going to do the work found another serious problem.”
Mr Uddin claims no one has told him what the problems are and that ‘no one knows when this job will be done’.
He said: “I’ve called the people who are supposed to do the job. A guy comes every week and checks the scaffolding, but no one comes and does the work. I feel hopeless.”
Slough Borough Council did not tell the LDRS what problems it had found with the roof or explain the delay, but said work would be completed ‘within the next couple of weeks’.
A spokesperson said: “The scaffolding has been up for longer than we anticipated, we will be carrying out the works very shortly, within the next couple of weeks. We apologise to Mr Uddin for the delay.”
