Fence approved as ‘place of worship’ suffers from fly tipping

Fence approved helping to 'discourage fly tipping in this area.'

A place of worship has been granted permission to install measures to stop fly tipping.

Kingdom Hall on Coach Road in Baildon is used by the Saltaire Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, and is a short distance from the World Heritage Site of Saltaire.

Plans to refurbish the building were recently submitted to Bradford Council, and include the resurfacing of the building’s car park, new doors and improved ventilation.

The work will also see a 1.8 metre fence installed around a garden area to the rear of the building.

The application said: “The Kingdom Hall has suffered from fly tipping on the green space. This is one of the primary reasons to fence the area.

“It will create a defensible space for the hall which is not in constant use, and discourage fly tipping in this area.”

The plans have now been approved by Bradford Council, with officers saying the minor changes will have little impact on the neighbouring World Heritage Site.
