Bradford is abuzz with excitement, but this time, it’s not about politics. Thousands of residents have cast their votes to crown the champions of the fifth annual Bradford Curry Awards, celebrating the best of the best from the ‘Curry Capital.’
Launched in 2018, the Bradford Curry Awards spotlight the city’s illustrious and award-winning curry industry. This event is a unique opportunity to unite the industry under one roof, offering a well-deserved day off to celebrate their vital contributions to the local economy, heritage, and culture.
Bradford’s curry prowess is legendary, having clinched the national title of Curry Capital of Britain for a record six consecutive years. The city, boasts over 200 curry establishments, contributing more than ÂŁ1billion to the local economy, each adding to its unrivalled reputation.
Curry enthusiasts from across the district have passionately nominated their favourite establishments, with over 100 names put forward. Now, after a meticulous process of counting and verifying the votes by auditors Smith & Munir, the shortlist of top establishments in each of the eleven categories can be revealed.
Founder of the Bradford Curry Awards, Fatima Patel said: “With each passing year, the curry industry continues to raise the bar, making it increasingly difficult for people to choose the best. I am delighted to see some new names on this year’s shortlist and look forward to presenting the list to our panel of judges, who face the challenging task of selecting the final winners. To me, each nominee has a unique quality, making them all winners in their own right. The Awards provide an opportunity to unite the industry and celebrate their contributions, while also highlighting Bradford’s exceptional curry offerings, which boost tourism and trade in our city every year.”
This years Bradford Curry Awards will be held at the Cedar Court Hotel on Monday 22 July, with around 300 people in attendance. Leading up to the awards night will be a 2-day Curry Mela held at Lister Park, showcasing an array of diverse curry offerings, with food stalls, masterclasses, arts and crafts, entertainment, dancing, competitions and lots of giveaways.
Do Bradford get ready for a 3-day curry extravaganza, concluding with details of who will be crowned the ‘Best of the Best’ in Bradford’s thriving curry scene!
