Investigations are underway after a mountain of waste was dumped on a piece of land next to one of Bradford’s busiest roads.
The Local Democracy Reporting Service noticed the mound of waste on land at the junction of Leeds Road and Thryberg Street, and asked Bradford Council if they had been informed of the fly tipping.
The Council is today establishing the ownership of the site before it is able to legally remove the waste.
The fly tipping includes numerous bags filled with waste, a large slab of foam and the remains of a Henry Hoover vacuum cleaner.
The site is usually blocked from the view from Leeds Road by a large fence, but a section of the fence had recently collapsed.
A Bradford Council Spokesperson said: “No one had previously reported this to us.
“Bradford Council has attended the site today (28 February) to conduct enquiries to establish the ownership of the private land in question, which will enable us to proceed with the legal removal of the waste.
“Anyone who witnesses fly-tipping should report it to us on https://www.bradford.gov.uk/transport-and-travel/report-issues/report-fly-tipping/ or by ringing 01274 431000.”
The authority confirmed it would be viewing CCTV of the area to collect evidence to establish who was responsible for the fly tipping with a view of prosecuting the guilty party.
