A dozen of Bradford’s parks and green spaces are set to host free fun days for children throughout the summer holidays.
Organised by Bradford Council, the events will take place at 12 locations across the district, offering a range of exciting, free activities including a climbing tower, bouncy castles, sports games, dance sessions, arts and crafts, and much more.
Aimed at children aged 5 to 14, each fun day will run from 11am to 3pm. Free, healthy lunches will also be available to children who are eligible for benefits-related free school meals.
The first event kicks off at Myrtle Park in Bingley on Tuesday 29 July, followed by:
Wednesday 30 July – Ladyhill Park, Allerton
Friday 1 August – Ilkley Lido (Celebrating Yorkshire Day)
Tuesday 5 August – Victoria Park, Keighley
Wednesday 6 August – Lister Park, Bradford (Celebrating National Playday)
Thursday 7 August – Roberts Park, Saltaire
Monday 12 August – Idle Recreation Ground
Wednesday 13 August – Wibsey Park
Thursday 14 August – West Park, Girlington
Tuesday 19 August – Haworth Road Playing Fields
Wednesday 20 August – Sedbergh Sports Centre
Friday 21 August – Peel Park
There’s no need to book in advance, but children will be asked to register their name and school on arrival.
Councillor Imran Khan, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Education, Employment and Skills, said: “We’re really proud to be offering these free fun days in parks across our district this summer. They’re a great opportunity for children to get active and enjoy some free outdoor fun – and for families to spend time together in a relaxed and welcoming environment at no cost. Children on benefit-related free school meals can also get a free packed lunch, which we know is a big help to many who struggle with the costs of keeping children entertained during the long summer break from school. I encourage families to come along and join in.”
The events are funded by the Department for Education’s Holiday Activities and Food Programme (HAF).
