Friends of Bradford Moor Park invites people from all communities to join them in the opening ceremony of the new gym and play area tomorrow

Boats will be sailing in the park’s pond for the first time in twenty years.

Friends of Bradford Moor Park is hosting the official unveiling of the park’s two latest additions tomorrow, at 11.30am.

The event will celebrate the official opening of the new gym equipment and keep fit area in the park and a brand-new children’s play and activity area.

For the last few years Friends of Bradford Moor Park has worked diligently to improve the conditions of the park and restore it to its former glory.

Volunteers have worked tirelessly to get the pond clean so that it can be used for boat rides.

The event will have performance and presentations as well as boat rides available, something that was once common but hasn’t been seen in over twenty years.

Naz Kosar, group leader of Friends of Bradford Moor Park, said: “As a group, we are constantly working towards making Bradford Moor Park a safe, pleasant and happy place for people to visit, as it once was when I was a child.

“In recent weeks we have held a Halloween Spooky Fun Day which was an absolute runaway success, and our wonderful volunteers were all galvanised into action the following week to provide firework patrols where we worked closely with Bradford Police to ensure safety in the park.

“We are looking forward to welcoming families from all communities across Bradford to celebrate the official opening of the gym area and play park. It has been a long time coming but hard work has paid off and we have restored the park to its former glory.”

Friends of Bradford Moor Park invites people from all communities to join in the celebration tomorrow.

The new children’s play area has been funded by Better Place and the gym area has been funded through the park’s team.

Better Place is a three-year project that is being delivered in partnership between Better Start Bradford and Groundwork which is about involving local people to develop safer and healthier places for expectant parents and families with children under the age of 4, to increase their access to outdoor spaces.

Councillor Sarah Ferriby, Healthy People and Places Portfolio Holder said: “We are delighted to be working with and supporting the Friends of Bradford Moor Park to improve this local park.

“Recent experience has shown us just how valuable local outdoor spaces are for people’s wellbeing. The new play area and gym are a great addition and can be enjoyed by everyone.”
