Heroes rise to the challenge tackling the Yorkshire Three Peaks in scorching heat for charity

In an inspiring display of resilience, compassion, and sheer determination, a remarkable group of 13 individuals took on the formidable Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge, during one of the hottest days of the year.
The group from the Bradford-based Imran Khan Cancer Appeal was raising funds for the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, in Peshawar, Pakistan.
As temperatures soared, participants braved the sweltering heat to trek across Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough, covering over 24 miles and more than 1,500 metres of ascent in under 12 hours. The physical and mental challenges of the hike were amplified by the intense heat, yet every step taken was fuelled by an unwavering commitment to help save lives.
Imran Khan Cancer Appeal (IKCA), the event brought together supporters from all walks of life, united in their shared belief that no one should have to face cancer without access to quality treatment. Every pound raised through this arduous journey will go directly towards funding cancer care and life-saving services at Shaukat Khanum Hospital, which provides world-class treatment to thousands of patients regardless of their ability to pay.
Event Organiser Mr Shafiq Rafiq, of Imran Khan Cancer Appeal, praised the dedication of the group, said: “It was one of the hottest days we’ve seen this year, and still these incredible individuals turned up and gave their all. Their courage and spirit reflect the very best of our community. They walked not just for themselves, but for the children, mothers, fathers, and families battling cancer every day. Their efforts will bring real hope to those who need it most.”
This event stands as a shining example of how determination and community spirit can make a lasting difference. Through shared effort, we can bring healing, dignity, and life-saving treatment to those who need it most.
