Ramadan is one of the holiest months in the Muslim calendar, which began on 12 April for most Muslims. Ramadan is where Muslims will fast for 30 days, from dawn till dusk without any food or water. At the end of the 30 day fasts, Muslims will host Eid-Ul-Fitr celebrations.

The Huddersfield BID alongside Hello Huddersfield want to do something special for Eid celebrations this year and have come up with a unique way to bring communities together to celebrate EID with a Huddersfield Bake off.

To get involved in the Huddersfield Bake off all you need to do is submit pictures of your best decorated Eid Cakes for a chance to win 1 of 3 £50 vouchers to be spent at one of the restaurants in the Huddersfield BID area. For those on social media use the #huddersfieldeid to enter. The competition will run from 26 April to 13 May, with the best three cakes chosen.

Entries from local businesses, organisations, and Huddersfield residents are invited

Entries will be showcased in the digital screens at the Piazza centre in Huddersfield town centre as well as a public display wishing the community a happy Eid.

Sophie Patel, Huddersfield BID’s Marketing & Projects Executive comments, “Firstly I would like to wish you all a happy Ramadan. I am looking forward to the community coming together to celebrate Eid and promote the diversity of Huddersfield. I look forward to seeing your delicious cakes”.
