This Sunday’s (28 September) Antiques Roadshow will once again feature Bradford’s Lister Park and Cartwright Hall Art Gallery as its backdrop.
The park and gallery, which have both been run by Bradford Council for 121 years, have recently been used for the filming of two editions of the BBC’s Antiques Roadshow in recognition of Bradford being 2025’s UK City of Culture. The programme will be broadcast at 7.10pm this Sunday (28 September) on BBC1, or available afterwards on BBC iPlayer.
The discoveries featured on the show include an autograph book from the American Civil War, a carved stone head, a portrait of a dog by Bradford-born artist Wright Barker, and a rare newspaper from 1926 published by the Government during the General Strike, which features the signatures of both Winston Churchill and the then Prime Minister Stanley Baldwin.
Presenter Fiona Bruce is also set to visit the gallery’s David Hockney exhibition and find out how his formative years in Bradford and early experimentation helped shape his later work, which made him an internationally acclaimed artist.
Councillor Sarah Ferriby, Portfolio Holder for Healthy People and Places, said: “We are delighted that a second programme is coming from this beautiful location which we are immensely proud of. As well as the treasures our residents have brought in, viewers will get to see the fantastic David Hockney Exhibition.”
