Bradford is set to kick off its year as the UK City of Culture with RISE, an open-air celebration bringing the district’s vibrant communities to the forefront.
Taking place over two evenings, 10 and 11 January 2025, the event promises to transform the heart of the city into a dazzling cultural spectacle.
The highly anticipated event will take place in City Park and Centenary Square, where Bradford’s dynamic spirit will take centre stage. The show, featuring a mix of performance art and storytelling, is created by award-winning theatre director Kirsty Housley in collaboration with Bradford-born magician Steven Frayne, famously known as Dynamo.
Gates will open at 5 pm, welcoming attendees to an evening filled with live DJ performances and food and drink vendors ahead of the main show at 6:30 pm. Designed to be a family-friendly event, RISE will celebrate the energy, creativity, and heritage that define the Bradford district.
Shanaz Gulzar, Creative Director of Bradford 2025, said: “All eyes will be on Bradford as we celebrate the launch of UK City of Culture. RISE will bring the district together for an inspiring event reflecting Bradford’s youthfulness, diversity, and heritage, lighting the creative spark that will fuel this incredible year and forge unforgettable memories. Our time is now – and it starts with RISE.”
