In a heart warming display of generosity, Saveco Cash & Carry, represented by Managing Directors Shiraz Ahmed and Fairaz Ahmed, proudly sponsored the Nazim Ali Foundation’s 11th Annual ‘Creating Smiles Hospital Gifts Initiative.’ This marked the fifth distribution of 2023 and demonstrated the unwavering commitment of Saveco to the well-being of children at Airedale Hospital’s Children’s Ward 17.

The charitable endeavour, dedicated to the memory of Caliph Abu Bakr Siddique, sought to honour his legacy of compassion for the poor and needy. The annual event, spanning eleven years, has been a beacon of hope for children in hospitals, with Saveco Cash & Carry playing a pivotal role as the main sponsor.
Expressing gratitude for Saveco’s continuous support, Nazim Ali, founder of the Nazim Ali Foundation, lauded the selfless contributions of Shiraz Ahmed and Fairaz Ahmed. Their ongoing commitment has seen thousands of pounds donated to provide over 30 gifts during each of the five annual distributions, supporting both Airedale and Bradford Royal Infirmary Children’s Wards.
Mohammed Azeem, a dear friend of Airedale Hospital, joined Nazim Ali in personally delivering the gifts to Children’s Ward 17. Having battled and overcome Covid-19 and cancer, Azeem shared his appreciation for the opportunity to support the hospital staff and contribute to the uplifting atmosphere for the children.
The diverse range of gifts, including cuddly toys, playsets, and baby toys, aimed to

bring joy to children aged 0 to 16. The initiative, now in its thirty-ninth round, aligns with the festive Christmas period, spreading goodness and positivity to those in need.
Nazim Ali emphasised the universal nature of the initiative, emphasising that the gifts are for all children, irrespective of faith. He shared his personal connection to hospital stays during childhood, highlighting the kindness received from doctors and nurses regardless of faith or ethnicity.
Shiraz Ahmed, Managing Director of Saveco Cash & Carry, expressed deep humility in supporting the ‘Toy Gifts’ initiative. Acknowledging the joy these gifts bring to children, he highlighted the importance of corporate social responsibility in giving back to society through various charitable initiatives.
Speaking to Asian Standard Mr Ahmed said: “We are truly honoured to once again contribute to the remarkable Toy Gifts initiative spearheaded by Nazim, who consistently goes above and beyond to make a difference. Supporting Airedale Hospital holds a special place in our hearts, especially knowing the joy our gifts bring to countless children. In this festive season, the thought of kids eagerly unwrapping their presents fills both myself and Fairaz with profound happiness and contentment. Our commitment to corporate social responsibility is unwavering, and we will continue championing this initiative with enthusiasm. The support extends beyond this heart-warming project to various charitable endeavours, including foodbanks, soup kitchens, and junior football teams. Giving back to society is ingrained in the core values and ethics of Saveco Cash & Carry, and we are dedicated to making a positive impact for years to come.”
Karen Reece, Play Leader at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, expressed gratitude for Nazim’s generous donation, emphasising the positive impact the toys would have as much-needed distractions for children during their hospital stays. She said: “We are once more extremely grateful for Nazim’s generous donation through Saveco Cash & Carry. The toys will be a much-needed distraction for children while they are in hospital. Thank you for thinking of us once again, we appreciate your continued support.”
The collaborative efforts of the Nazim Ali Foundation and Saveco Cash & Carry exemplify the power of community-driven initiatives in creating smiles and making a lasting difference in the lives of hospitalised children.
