Plan to turn unit in “undesirable area” into broadcast training studio in Bradford

A building in an “undesirable” area of Bradford can be converted into a broadcast training facility after new plans were approved.

A planning application to convert a small unit, 3 Sackville Street, into a base where people can pick up skills in music and broadcasting was submitted to Bradford Council by Karl Dunnachie in September.

The building’s most recent use has been a chiropractic facility, and the plans would see it become a space for people wanting to learn skills in broadcasting.

The application said the facility is “aimed at professionals or aspiring professionals” rather than under 18s.

The business will be called Kad Studios, and would see some alterations to the building, which is based in the City Centre Conservation Area.

Planning officers approved the plans this week, referring to the street’s reputation.

They said: “It would facilitate the creation of jobs and support business within the town centre and bring a commercial unit back into use in a fairly undesirable area of the city.

“It is therefore considered to make a positive contribution to the city centre.”
