Beckfoot Heaton Primary School, on Haworth Road has confirmed a positive Covid-19 test has come back and as a result, the opening of nursery provision for three-year-olds will have to be delayed.
Zoe Mawson, Headteacher at Beckfoot Heaton Primary School said ‘Public Health England has advised that a member of staff has tested positive for Covid 19 within Beckfoot Heaton Primary School, a member of staff who was preparing for the opening of Nursery provision for three-year olds.
The virus was not contracted in the school building. We have followed the guidance from Public Health England and identified that 5 staff were in close contact with the confirmed case and these affected staff will now isolate for 14 days. None of these staff were in close contact with any children who were in school last week.
We have taken the decision to delay the opening of Nursery provision for three-year olds for 14 days due to the number of staff in the Nursery provision for three-year olds who now need to isolate. We are very disappointed that we cannot welcome our three-year-old nursery children back to school as planned, but the health and safety of our children and families remains a priority. We will keep in contact with the parents of these children to confirm the start details and to share our plans for home learning. The rest of the school remains open.
We were delighted to welcome back Years 1 to 6 last week, and to see the smiles and laughter of the children in school again. We appreciate the hugely positive continued support of our community that helped this to happen. We continue to review our risk assessment in order that we adhere to all current guidance, keep our community informed and to support our children and families in any way we can’.
