Rise in burglaries targeting Asian gold in Bradford

Bradford District Crime Team say they’ve seen a sharp rise in the number of residential burglaries across Bradford District targeting Asian gold.

In the last 4 months there have been 28 burglaries where Asian Gold has been stolen across the neighbourhood policing areas of East, South and West Bradford.

Two males aged 15 and 16 have been arrested on suspicion of burglary and remains in police custody at this time.

Detective Inspector Dennise Bell of Bradford District Crime Team said:

“We have seen a significant increase in the number of residential burglaries where Asian gold has been stolen.

“Our investigation shows that the suspects are riding around the Bradford area on E-bikes, targeting properties. Officers would like to appeal to anyone who has seen anything suspicious to come forward with information.

“We would also like to see any doorbell footage that may have captured these bikes riding past your property.

“It appears that the suspects are snapping the locks on the door. We would like to take this opportunity to remind residents about making sure that they have an up-to-date anti-snap lock on all doors. Also ensuring that windows and doors are secured, and valuables are locked away in a safe place.

“Our investigation into the residential burglaries remain ongoing.”

Bradford District Crime Team is investigating these incidents and anyone with information that may assist is asked to contact them on 101, quoting 13240514228 or by using the live chat facility on the West Yorkshire Police website.

Similarly, anyone who has recently been offered, or knows of jewellery being offered for sale is also asked to get in touch.

Information can also be reported anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 or online.
